Improved Facilities: A New Stadium, Girls Wrestling, and More

I spearheaded the construction of a new athletic stadium, providing a state-of-the-art facility for our athletes and community to come together. I was also instrumental in bringing girls wrestling to both the high school and junior high levels, expanding athletic opportunities for our female students and fostering inclusivity in sports. Additionally, I championed improvements to our school facilities, including the intermediate school brick facade, ensuring our buildings are safe, modern, and conducive to learning—all while staying within budget and avoiding significant tax increases.

When I took office in 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic was still disrupting our schools. As an independent physician leader, I used my expertise and common sense to evaluate the data without bias, advocating for in-person education despite “expert” advice to the contrary. I fought hard to get our kids back to normalcy, and Southern Lehigh became one of the first districts to remove masks and return to full in-person learning—faster than many other districts in the region. My evidence-based approach put students’ well-being first, ensuring they could thrive without unnecessary restrictions. I was proven right in every aspect, and I’m proud to have led the way for our community.

Curriculum Overhaul: New Director, New Direction

I recognized the need for a stronger, more focused curriculum to better serve our students, and I took action. I played a key role in bringing on a new curriculum director to lead our district’s educational strategy, ensuring we have fresh leadership dedicated to academic excellence. Under this new direction, I spearheaded a true overhaul of our curriculum, aligning it with the core educational needs of our students while eliminating distractions. As a physician, a father, and your incumbent Southern Lehigh School Director, I’ve always been driven by a deep commitment to our community. My journey on the school board began in 2021, and today, I’m running for re-election to continue the fight for our students, taxpayers, and the conservative values that make Southern Lehigh exceptional. Here’s why I ran then—and why I’m running again now.

Why I Ran in 2021: A Call to Serve During a Critical Time

In 2021, I saw a district facing unprecedented challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic had upended our schools, with many districts clinging to restrictive policies that I believed were harming our children. As a physician who helps families navigate complex and high-stakes situations, I felt compelled to step up. I ran for the school board to bring my evidence-based perspective to the table, using my medical expertise to advocate for what I knew was right: getting our kids back to normalcy as quickly and safely as possible.

At the time, I chose to cross-file, running on both the Republican and Democratic tickets, to maximize my chances of serving a community I deeply care about. But my values have always been clear—I’m a fiscal and social conservative who believes in prioritizing students and taxpayers over special interests. Once elected, I proved that commitment by fighting hard against misguided COVID policies. I used my knowledge as a physician to evaluate the data without bias, challenging “expert” advice that kept schools closed or masked. Southern Lehigh became one of the first district to remove masks and return to in-person education because I put our kids first. That experience solidified my belief that the school board’s role is to serve our families—not external agendas or misguided fear—and it’s a principle I’ve carried throughout my tenure.

Why I’m Running for Re-Election: Restoring Balance and Protecting Our Values

Today, I’m running for re-election because I believe Southern Lehigh is at a crossroads. Since Emily Gehman and her slate were elected in 2023, I’ve watched our district shift in a direction that concerns me deeply. Backed by the Southern Lehigh Education Association (teachers’ union) and the Southern Lehigh Community Partners PAC, they’ve prioritized union interests and liberal policies over the needs of taxpayers and students. Their refusal to commit to a tax moratorium during their campaign, coupled with Gehman’s micromanagement as School Board President—including her intent to push out our student-focused superintendent, Dr. Michael Mahon—threatens the stability and fiscal responsibility our community deserves.

Adding to my concerns, the Southern Lehigh Community Partners PAC—the same group that supported Gehman’s slate in 2023—is now backing four far-left Democrats in this election: Chris Sykora, Kimberly Jaramillo, Luis Melecio, and Josh Rager. These candidates, endorsed by the Southern Lehigh Democrats, represent a continuation of the liberal shift I’ve witnessed over the past two years. I’m particularly troubled by the PAC itself, which I believe is a far-left organization run by radicals. While the PAC claims to focus on a “student-first approach” and avoiding “extremist politics,” their consistent support for candidates with progressive agendas—first Gehman’s slate and now these far-left Democrats—tells a different story. Their alignment with liberal priorities, such as emphasizing inclusion policies over core education, suggests a radical departure from the conservative values our community holds dear. This pattern mirrors broader far-left movements that often cloak their ideological goals in language about “social justice” or “community partnerships,” but ultimately push for systemic changes that conflict with our district’s traditions and fiscal priorities.

Unlike in 2021, I’ve chosen not to cross-file this time. I want to be fully transparent with you about my beliefs—I’m a True Republican, committed to fiscal responsibility, traditional education, and parental rights. My decision not to cross-file in 2025 reflects my dedication to honesty with our community about the values I’ll fight for on the board.
